History of Kácov
Kácov is a small village in the district of Kutná Hora in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. The first written mention of Kácov comes from 1352.
In the 16th century, the town of Kácov became a center of mining and metallurgy, thanks to the proximity of the silver mines in Kutná Hora. In 1590, Kácov received city rights and in 1592 the first paper factory in Bohemia was founded here.
During the Thirty Years’ War, Kácov was burned down and almost the entire town burned down. After that, it was gradually restored and developed thanks to the production of paper and textiles. In the 19th century, a sugar factory was established in Kácov, which became an important employer and industrial center.
The Kácov brewery was founded in 1871 and has been brewing beer using traditional methods ever since. They focus on the production of high-quality beers that adhere to Czech brewing traditions and use ingredients from local sources.
The railway station was built in Kácov on the Kutná Hora – Zruč nad Sázavou railway line in the course of the 20th century, and tourism developed here, thanks to the proximity of the natural beauty of the Iron Mountains and the Sázava River.
